... point-virgule... (2013) was composed in 2013 for the MDI ensemble. The work can be described as a juxtaposition of sonic representations of three temporal conceptions: a cyclical model, a linear model, and a spatial model. The cyclical model is constructed with overlapping procedures derived from the structural principles of talea and color. The linear model implies a relationship of cause and effect between earlier and later events. In contract with the cyclical model, it takes the form of a more diverse gestural discourse, continuous yet always with a clear sense of directionality. The spatial model materializes here as a frozen image of the cyclical model.
