Francisco Ferro is a French Brazilian composer of contemporary music. His works are performed worldwide by numerous international ensembles and orchestras including Jack Quartet, Nouvel Ensemble ModerneEnsemble Télémaque, Camerata AbertaMDI Ensemble, Montreal Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Filarmônica de Minas Gerais, McGill Symphony Orchestra and Orchestre National Avignon-Provence. He is the author of numerous creations for the most diverse formations, spanning instrumental, orchestral, and electroacoustic pieces, as well as soundtracks for audiovisual projects such as films and documentaries. His works are characterized by their focus on sound kinetics, featuring transparent textures and a practical, resourceful approach to orchestration. His electroacoustic productions seamlessly blend elements of electronic and acoustic music.Recent  projects include a commission for Orchestre National Avignon-Provence, with the support of the French ministry of Culture, and a commission for Ensemble Télémaque, with the support of SACEM.

 

In July 2019, he was a guest resident at Villa Medici, the French Academy in Rome, and a resident at Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris. He was then selected to be a resident at la Casa de Velazquez, the French Academy in Madrid, for 2020-2021.

 

Francisco Ferro holds a Doctorate in Music Composition from McGill University, a Master of Arts from Tufts University and a bachelor degree from Berklee College of Music.
